Ahoy, pirates! Test Realm came out several days ago, and I've been, well, testing it and figured I put my own two gold pieces in on the latest upcoming updates:
1- Shipyards- This is a really nice concept. All those ships that you no longer use and that you are keeping basically for show, can now actually be shown off at your houses. You can only put out 5 at a house, But hey if you're like me, you have plenty of houses to use.
2- Companion Placement- I'm on the fence about this one. You can place your companions in your houses, if you so choose. This would have been good before advanced companions, but now that all the comps can serve a purpose, I don't really see a need to take them off the current roster of shipmates, unless there is going to be some sort of crew capacity coming in the future. I have 3 pages of companions so this might actually be a good thing ;)
3-Ship Cabins- Your ships can FINALLY have a cabin. Frank, fire the confetti cannons and drop the balloons! Frank? Nevermind him. I have always wanted to go below deck. My only complaint is it's one cabin for all the boats, so different boat cabins will all be decorated the same. That said, however, the decorative items for the cabins are fantastic.
4- Black Market- This has the biggest controversial part of this TR. The Black Market has come into play and with it, its own currency known as scrips. Scrips can be found in various ways. Most notably, turret and boss ships, and the Smuggler's Arena, which can be bought in the crown shop and placed in your house. The problem with Scrips has been the obtainability compared to the prices of the items in the market. I think the concept is interesting, but it needs to be tweaked.
Conclusion: I think this TR has some interesting concepts and with some ironing out and tweaking, these updates can lead to some new gameplay twists and I'm looking forward to seeing how they are implemented further into the game.
Pirates... UNITE!!
