Goodbye Free Realms

NOTE: Before reading this post please take a minute or two and tell any Free Realms player that you know to come on over to Pirates Unite (preferably this article) and learn about Pirate101 and to give try it a try now or in the near future.
For Pirate101 Players: As the due date for Free Realm's "death sentence" approaches what seems faster and faster each day it is showing that after this competition for both Kingsisle games will be more teen oriented games like World of Warcraft and League of Legends. Free Realms as we all know and probably have tried in our year(s) of playing online games and as some of us may have forgotten about what it looked like or if they even played it that you should try it out on these last few days, you may like it, you never know. And remember, you can click the friend invite button while on Pirate101 to invite them to come play Pirate101 if they don't want to read about membership, crowns, and game card options; chat options; and what good Kingsisle has done each year to help the community in and around Dallas and Austin, Texas.

The Noelephant is the Charity Mount of 2013 succeeding
the Fa-La-La-La-Llama of 2012
For Free Realms players deciding to join Pirate101: You may have heard of Pirate101 once or maybe twice if you/they got past the chat filter in  and could put the 101 in somehow. Pirate101 is set in the Spiral like Wizard101 but if your already not liking the sound of it and think it will be a children's game then think again. Pirate101 is only one but has helped the surrounding charities of Dallas and Austin, Texas and Make-A-Wish wishes from people (I will explain about that in the next paragraph) plus the game is family friendly and has multiple membership plans.

Every year around Christmas time (all of December to a few days after New Years) Kingsisle Entertainment, the creators of Pirate101 and Wizard101, release a mount to help raise money for charities around the Dallas and Austin Texas areas and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. During the Summer/Fall of last year a lucky person in the Make-A-Wish Foundation by the name in the Pirate101 community of Ryan the Relentless who is one of the two special people (plus their family of course) to visit the headquarters of Kingsisle Entertainment, you can find out more of his visit here.

Pirate101 is family friendly but for ages 10+ but that usually isn't the case as whole families with kids under the age of 10 enter the game and enjoy it, parents or guardians can choose what type of chat their child can have once they are signed up and have created a master password. The three types of chat in Pirate101 are:

  • Menu Chat, is the basic chat like any other game and has messages, dances, emotes, and more prepared. A chat bubble with a cross through it is the symbol for menu chat and people with menu chat will get a message with "..." when people with text chat and open chat are talking.
  • Text Chat, is a step up from menu chat but you get a chat box that you can type allowed words into. Allowed words appear white while blocked words appear red. NOTE: Text chat is for ages 13+ but can still be turned on with your parent or guardians permission if you are under the age of 13.
  •  Open Chat, is the 18+ chat which you can get when you are 18 years of age or older (they count it for you) and purchased Crowns or membership online with a credit card. There is no moderation but word in text chat that would appear red will now appear yellow as a warning.
One of the many pets in the game.
By now you are probably wondering what Crowns, the master password, and what the membership plans are. The master password is what you think it is, the master password. When logging in and going to your account settings you can enter the password and do multiple stuff like buy membership, crowns, add other accounts for the family plan, transfer crowns, and more. For now we will call the master password "The Kraggle."

Membership plans and Crowns work in similar ways. Crowns are the premium money in the game and can be used to by items from the Crown Shop (gold works for some of these items also) where you can buy and gift stuff to friends; pay for a chapter of the game where it will then be unlocked on the account for all characters forever (this does not spread to other ones if you have  multiple accounts connected with "The Kraggle") while membership unlocks the whole game. A in between if you want to play but don't want to use/don't have  a credit card is a game card.

Unlike game cards for SOE games where it only gave you your premium money, the game cards in Pirate101 off a full potential of more stuff. Each card comes with something different and something the same and not to get confused when you are buying here is what each one gives:
  • $10 Game Card: 1 month of membership or 5,000 Crowns + a pet
  • $20 Game Card: 2 months of membership or 10,000 Crowns + pet
  • $29 Game Card (Bundle): 1 month of membership or 5,000 Crowns + stuff (ship parts, a house, gear, companion, etc.)
  • $39 Gme Card (Bundle): 1 month of membership or 5,000 Crowns + stuff
So, are you up for Pirate101 yet? If you need any help or have any questions that can't be answered on the website or this post (I also forgot to mention, you need membership to post in the forums, they are working so people who purchase crowns in the last 30 days can post also) we will be willing to answer them here down below in the comments.
